We tend to talk about positive thinking as opposed to negative thinking. We associate negative thinking with depression, darkness and an overall pessimistic view of life. Negative thinking can be our way to avoid failure, offset our defeats by setting them up to happen, and reduce our expectations to some point so incredibly low that anything that happens can't help but be a success. We can certainly find great value in such a dynamic, but in many respects such an orientation is far too limiting. While the idea of positive thinking is certainly powerful, it appears to miss a more fundamental and core principle that can be utterly life altering on every level of life.
